Andrew Gemino, Associate Dean, Graduate Programs – Simon Fraser University
Dr. Andrew Gemino is an award-winning teacher who has twice received the Canada Trust Distinguished Teacher award from the Beedie School of Business. Besides being a co-founder of a sports software companies whose clients include the NBA and NHL, he has published academic research focusing on information technology project management, business systems analysis and the design of technology-mediated collaborative environments.
Ana Carija – FDM Group
Ana earned her Master’s degree in Teaching French Language and Contemporary Italian Philology and has previously lived in both Croatia and France. Prior to joining FDM, Ana worked as a French tutor and in-person interpreter. She started at FDM in a Receptionist and Travel Coordinator role before taking on the role of Academy Administrator. During this time, Ana was introduced to the FDM Recruitment Team and discovered her passion for helping new graduates jumpstart their careers. Her main responsibilities include “recruiting and sourcing fresh graduates for our academy program, attending career fairs, as well as organizing and conducting in-person assessments.”
Ana speaks five languages including English and French, and works to recruit bilingual candidates. She is also involved with the translation of resumes, job postings and other documents. The most rewarding part of her job is “seeing the consultants I recruited thrive in their client placement that reminds me how much I like my job.” Ana’s favourite part about FDM is the “vibrant culture and opportunity for growth”, and she counts her colleagues as some of her closest friends. Her co-workers may not know that Ana was an actress in a local theatre for two years, and that she loves arts and crafts and fashion.
John Candeias , Senior Manager, Advisory Services, Ernst & Young LLP
John is a Senior Manager in the Advisory Services practice with Ernst & Young LLP. He brings over 18 years of project management, business and technology experience in multiple sectors with the last eight years focused primarily on government and financial services sectors. He has solid experience leading IT transformation programs, IT optimization reviews, RPA initiatives and implemented various full lifecycle IT projects with medium to high level of complexity. John has managed PMO functions for large systems integration projects, led teams through requirements gathering, design, build and testing to deliver large-scale, complex projects and business transformations.
Disruptive technology is reshaping the Finance and HR function of today and tomorrow. This presentation shall focus on one of these technology disrupters – Robotics Process Automation (RPA). RPA is allowing organizations to replace components of repetitive workflows with a virtual processes, driving substantial time savings. Steve Johnston, Sr Director, Information Systems & Ashish Syal, Chief Engineer – Sierra Wireless
IoT – What’s in it for you? – Ready to build and work on innovative IoT solutions that rethink the future? Sierra Wireless has a fully integrated device to cloud solution that helps businesses create the next wave in Internet of Things (IoT) solutions as they emerge for tomorrow’s world. This session will provide a broad overview of the global IoT market and industry segments and will highlight the value that the IoT can bring to businesses. Speakers will outline several case studies that will help BTM graduates think of ways they can leverage their newly acquired business application skills to bring value to companies looking to leverage the IoT.

Brenden is an Enterprise and Solutions Architect and Global manager with over 20 years of experience in delivering IT solutions. He has world in Canada, Germany, Asia-Pacific and Australia and has a broad background in BI and Analytics.
