Melisa Muraca, Assistant Vice President, Mobile Center of Excellence & Digital Health Solutions – Sun Life Financial

Topic: What is Digital Innovation at Sun Life Financial?

Melisa Muraca has worked at companies in the Financial, Food, Transportation, and Telecom industries before taking on several leadership roles in the last 10 years at Sun Life Financial. Being a change agent and having the drive for excellence in delivery, she has realised many initiatives that involve setting up new platforms and solutions for Sun Life clients. She is now responsible for Sun Life Financial’s Canadian mobile application and for delivering products for Sun Life’s Digital Health Solutions clients. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in e-Commerce. She is a mom of two children under the age of six and has a passion for competitive sports and painting on canvas.

Tashi Drapeau – Pratt & Whitney

Topic: Journey to the center of AI

Tashi holds a Masters in Science degree from HEC Montréal as well as a Bachelor’s degree from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières – both specialized in Marketing.
At Pratt & Whitney Canada he is the manager leading the Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytics programme, a new department recently implemented to support strategic growth.

Mehdi Merai is a an AI researcher and the CEO of Dataperformers. He is deeply invested in creating intelligent systems that empowers organizations and people through artificially intelligent process automation and pattern recognition.


Opening Keynote: Ygal Bendavid, Professor – ESG UQAM

Topic: One week in the life of an IoT consultant

Ygal Bendavid has worked in RFID/IoT consulting for several years before joining the School of Management (ESG) in the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), as a Professor in operations management & IT at the Department of Management and Technology. He is responsible for IoT projects at the Smart Logistic and Transportation Systems Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal and a MSc in Technology Management. His research interests include the adoption of IoT technologies such as RFID and their impact on organisations. He is a member of RFID Academia’s research board and a frequent speaker at RFID Journal Live where he joined the board of “ask the experts”.

En mettant en perspective le contexte d’évolution numérique des entreprises dont les enjeux d’affaires, organisationnels, financiers et technologiques, Monsieur Allaire partagera les facteurs critiques de succès requis pour un tel programme, présentera une approche de travail éprouvée et identifiera les connaissances ainsi que les expertises nécessaires.

Monsieur Marc Allaire est un gestionnaire et un consultant ayant 30 ans d’expérience dans les domaines du management et des technologies de l’information. Il a géré de nombreuses équipes de conception, de réalisation, d’implantation et d’exploitation de grands projets réussis impliquant des concepts d’affaires et technologiques novateurs dans les domaines des affaires numériques, les services à la clientèle, les opérations et la gestion de risques financiers et organisationnels dans des entreprises financières, d’assurances, de distribution et manufacturières.

COFOMO est une entreprise de Service-Conseil en TI en affaires depuis plus de 20 ans. Elle occupe actuellement la deuxième place dans son secteur d’activités au Québec. Elle emploie plus de 1425 experts-conseils qui réalisent différents types de mandats en organisation reliés aux TIC. Elle possède trois places d’affaires à Montréal, Québec et Toronto.

Ana Carija – FDM Group

Ana earned her Master’s degree in Teaching French Language and Contemporary Italian Philology and has previously lived in both Croatia and France. Prior to joining FDM, Ana worked as a French tutor and in-person interpreter. She started at FDM in a Receptionist and Travel Coordinator role before taking on the role of Academy Administrator. During this time, Ana was introduced to the FDM Recruitment Team and discovered her passion for helping new graduates jumpstart their careers. Her main responsibilities include “recruiting and sourcing fresh graduates for our academy program, attending career fairs, as well as organizing and conducting in-person assessments.”

Ana speaks five languages including English and French, and works to recruit bilingual candidates. She is also involved with the translation of resumes, job postings and other documents. The most rewarding part of her job is “seeing the consultants I recruited thrive in their client placement that reminds me how much I like my job.” Ana’s favourite part about FDM is the “vibrant culture and opportunity for growth”, and she counts her colleagues as some of her closest friends. Her co-workers may not know that Ana was an actress in a local theatre for two years, and that she loves arts and crafts and fashion.

Saad Chafki has worked more than 18 years as a specialist and leader in the field of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Digital technologies. His experience spans several industries namely : Finance, Telecommunications, Manufacturing, Advertising and AgriBusiness. Mr Chafki teaches graduate level courses in BI and Data Management and has a Bachelor and a Master degree in Computer Science and a Master in Business Administration. 

Closing Keynote: Marc-André Decoste – Google

Topic: Project management at Google

Marc-André Decoste is a Université de Montréal alumni in Computer science. He worked for more than 13 years for Softimage, a Montréal startup that revolutionized the 3D computer graphics business and has belonged to both Microsoft and Avid Technology, who revolutionized the video editing on computers. Then, Marc-André joined Google where he currently works as a software develloper. He’s been a team manager, and then managed a whole department before returning to his first love, software programming. At Google, you don’t need to be a manager to lead projects, and Marc-André has lead many projects while still being an active software programmer, and so he would like to share some of his experience with you.
